Double Dhamal (2011)

Double Dhamaal (also known as Dhamaal 2) is a Bollywood comedy film and a sequel to the 2007 hit film Dhamaal. The film is directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Ashok Thakeria. It features the lead roles from the original, with Mallika Sherawat and Kangna Ranaut as new additions. The theatrical trailer of the film was revealed on 20 May 2011 along with the film Haunted. The film released on 24 June 2011.
Upon release, the film received mixed to negative reviews from critics, unlike its prequel, however was a moderate success at the box office.

Plot

The story begins with the four losers, Roy, Adi, Boman and Manav who are good-for-nothing. Their tale begins when they con people for money. Until, they see their old arch-enemy Kabir driving a luxury Mercedes Benz. They disguise themselves to find the reason behind his success, and investigate he lives off his wife's wealth. They blackmail him into making them as his business partners, but little do the four friends know, that Kabir and his wife Kamini along with his sister Kiya have a different agenda of their own. Kabir connects them with an investor named Bata Bhai who is also a part-time don. The four friends steal Bata Bhai's money, and the money is then stolen by Kabir and his family. Kabir leaves the country along with his partners, and leaves the four friends to get killed by Bata Bhai. However, the four friends manage to track Kabir down. They make a plan to ruin Kabir's happiness and take their money back by going into disguise. Roy (in disguise as Tukya) cons Kiya by pretending to be in love with her. Adi (in disguise as Ghanta Singh) pretends to be Kabir's secretary. Soon enough, the four jokers ruin Kabir's full family and their happiness. As Kiya leaves Kabir because she thinks he had murdered her boyfriend Tukya (Roy) and Kamini thinks he was having an affair with a woman named Barbra (Boman). The four friends then gang up on Kabir, and take his money and run. However, before leaving his house, it is revealed that whilst they were robbing his money, it was all recorded. And the masterminds behind the plan are Kiya, Kamini and above all Kabir who knew the four idiots were coming for him. Kabir gives them seconds to run, and calls Johnny Bonzela over to get his money back. The film ends with the four friends being chased by Johnny Bonzela.

    Double Dhamaal which released on 24 June 2011, was shot in Mehboob Studio, Mauritius and Hong Kong. At the 'Mahurat' of the film, it was announced that the four jokers, Riteish Deshmukh, Aashish Chaudhary and Jaaved Jaaferi will be reprising their roles as friends again, while Sanjay Dutt plays a millionaire this time. The film focused on the four friends blackmailing Dutt to share all his fortune in the most hilarious ways they can think of. The film finished shooting early May 2011, and brought rights to remake the song "Oye Oye" from the 1989 action film, Tridev. Earlier, actress Vidya Balan was chosen to play the role of Kamini, but reports suggest she refused and was subsequently replaced by Mallika Sherawat.

    Commercial reception

    According to Box Office India, the film had a good opening of 60 - 70% collections. At a few multiplexes, such as, Spice Noida, E Square Pune and Wave Ludhiana, the film almost opened at a 100% response. The film collected approximately INR 7.61 crore net on its first day, according to Box Office India. It is the third biggest opener of the year at That time , following Ready and Yamla Pagla Deewana. The film had a strong Saturday, collecting INR 8.08 crore net. The film's weekend collections amounted to INR 25.65 crore net. The film grossed INR67 crore worldwide. It was declared a semi-hit grosser.
